Ofsted praises Roundhill Primary in Bath as a welcoming school with an ambitious curriculum

Roundhill Primary School in Bath is a place “where everyone is warmly welcomed” and “The curriculum is broad, balanced and ambitious”, according to the latest Ofsted report.

Following an inspection on 13 January Ofsted recognised the progress the Southdown school had made and confirmed it was no longer in Special Measures.

Inspectors noted that “many recent improvements in the school have had an impact on pupils' current learning” and highlighted the positive effect the new senior leadership team have made. The report said:

“Staff feel valued, listened to and supported… morale is high, and there is a clear determination among staff to ensure that the school continues to move forward.”

The Early Years setting was noted for its new curriculum allowing children to build on their learning from nursery to Reception, with inspectors commenting that: “High quality interactions between staff and children are now a key feature of the setting” as well as noting the warm relationships with families.

The school’s safeguarding standards were met and, on additional support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), the Ofsted report said:

“the school has introduced an ambitious curriculum to help these pupils build the knowledge and skills they need.”

Emma Cooper, the recently-appointed Headteacher at Roundhill said:

“This Ofsted report is a huge milestone for our whole community and reflects the hard work of our children, staff, governors, families and Trust colleagues. While there’s still more to do, we are proud of how far the school has come and are excited about the next chapter for Roundhill.”

Roundhill Primary School is a member of The Partnership Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust of 17 schools in B&NES and Somerset.

Emily Massey, CEO of The Partnership Trust said:

“This report reflects the determination of Roundhill and the Trust to create an inclusive, nurturing, and aspirational place of learning. We look forward to building on this momentum as we continue this journey.”
