Pupils from schools in Farmborough and Marksbury raised their voices to open the Three Towers Music Festival on Friday 24 April. The annual three-day event brings a wide range of musical performances to the village churches of Farmborough, Marksbury and Stanton Prior, near Bath.

Years 3 and 4 from Marksbury Church of England Primary School launched the festival with their performance at St Peter’s church in the village. They sang Sign Of The Cross, Colour my World by Petula Clark, and When I Grow Up from Matlida the Musical.

This was followed by pupils from all year groups at nearby Farmborough Church Primary School who performed 'Making Music' at All Saints' Church. This was a concert of individual singing and instrumental recitals, as well as a performance by members of the School's Community Choir.

 Farmborough Headteacher Darren Roberts said:

"We were delighted that our pupils could once again be a part of the Three Towers Festival. They treated everyone to a wonderfully varied programme of music, chosen by the children and performed with great courage and ability. It was a joy to experience their performances and seeing their sense of achievement and enjoyment just filled us all with great pride."

Farmborough and Marksbury Primary schools are both members of The Partnership Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust of 17 schools in B&NES and Somerset. Last term they collaborated with three other church schools in the Trust to record a song for Easter.

Emily CEO of The Partnership Trust said:

“It’s fantastic to see both Marksbury and Farmborough schools performing at the Three Towers Festival. Following their recent recording of a shared Easter song, it’s inspiring to see how their commitment to music and community continues to flourish.”

Established in 2013, The Three Towers Music Festival is an annual event taking place across three village churches. Concerts range from classical, medieval and renaissance genres to jazz, folk and world music. Every year profits are donated to a music-related charity. This year’s charity is the Amber Trust which works with blind and partially sighted children to experience and create music.
