How to succeed at interviews

During the academic year 2023/2024 The Partnership Trust received over 700 job applications. But how can an applicant to the Trust improve their chances of securing a role?
5 Top Tips to make yourself stand out:
- It’s the biggest and most obvious one, but one that can make all the difference - first impressions count – always look smart & arrive on time. Plan how long it will take to get to the interview location: where the bus will stop / where you’ll park etc.
- Smile, breathe, take your time to reply to questions, look the interview panel in the eye when you respond to them. Don’t let your nerves take over. Think of an interview as a meeting for both parties to find out about each other. If you have been invited to interview we want to know more about you, not to make you feel uncomfortable.
- Find out about the school you’re applying to. All schools have their own websites. Reference this knowledge in your interview responses. Show you’re engaged and interested in us as a potential employer.
- Think beforehand about your best qualities & achievements – be ready to promote yourself and to steer any answers towards mentioning these points. Answer questions with actual examples of what you’ve done & achieved. These examples can be from your personal life as well as work experience.
- Plan beforehand questions you want to ask about the role or school - show your interest in the role.
We always welcome interest in joining our Trust and recruit for a wide range of roles in schools based in the city of Bath and beyond. See here for our current vacancies
